Can too much snow be such a bad thing?

2003-03-01
Right, so is the snow ever stopping today?

I doubt it. It has been going all day. Needless to say we are hiding out inside. Aside from my excursion in snow nearly up to my knees chasing Aoife down. For the second day in a row she escaped out of the patio door to go bark ferociously at the much-hated dogs next door. You know, the ones that belong to "the Cave" who are forever outside, no matter what the temperature? Our dogs cannot stand those dogs. At all. So any chance they get to bark and growl at them through the window and doors, they take it. Even more preferable is to escape to get in the evil dog's faces and prove their Jack Russell Terrier point. Or whatever.

We finally have entered out of the Dark Ages somewhat. Yesterday we purchased a really cool digital camera. One of those teeny tiny ones you can hold in one hand. The BX on base sure does have great prices on electronics! Anyhow, once I got it home and began to explore the functions, I found it also will record mini-movies, can be used as a webcam for online conferences, can download mp3's off of the internet, save them, and play them any time you want..all you have to do is plug in the mini headphones. Interesting. So most of this afternoon was spent taking pictures and trying out the filming function. I am one of those people that can work any kind of electronic item or appliance without reading any instructions whatsoever. So needless to say, took the photos and film footage, downloaded it into my computer and presto....now it is all available to email to whomever. Pretty nifty. Now I will be bombarding my family and friends' emails with goodness knows what. So be prepared!

As I predicted, the Air Force did find something wrong with our paperwork that will enable us to move. All was well and good till the very last person had to sign off on it. As far as we knew, everything was ok'd and faxed to the correct people on Thursday. But no. Friday night in work, Greg got a call at 7.30pm saying one of the Colonels wants the letter to read that the patient (me) MUST be relocated to Walter Reed rather than SHOULD be relocated there. So do you know how long it is going to take us to get in contact with my doctor in Denver, explain the "mistake" and have him retype the entire letter!? And why could they not alert us to this FRIDAY MORNING so we could let my doctor know while he was actually in work? Why wait till Friday night, with the weekend approaching to tell us this oh-so-lovely information??

Now I believe Monday we are going to have to make a drive up to Denver and personally collect the new and improved, Air Force approved letter. Unless Dr. K. is able to definitely fax it into Greg's work Monday. But he is one busy doctor, as well as Professor, so trekking up there seems the most likely scenario. Oh, I simply cannot wait.

So when I wrote last I neglected to mention anything about Mister Rogers. I think he was a wonderful person and advocate of children's education. I loved to watch him when I was little, and Clare has carried on the tradition. She loves Trolley just like I did. I always wanted to hop on and ride off into Make-Believe land.

Well Mister Rogers, enjoy that Trolley ride up to Heaven. You deserve it.
