Snow, bread, and hey..."Don't Be A Terrorist"!

2003-03-20
Has it been two weeks already?

I suppose it has. I know I have been busy but had no idea the time had flown as it did. Guess that's what happens as you get older.

So the other day I was driving to the oncologist's office for my weekly injections and bloodwork. I happened to notice the back of a Ford Escort-type station wagon (is there such a car? I'm not sure...). Anyhow, the car was a typical grandparent sort of vehicle but had a young fella driving. And what stood out was a sticker showing an American flag with the statement "Don't Be A Terrorist" printed just next to the flag. Ok. I had to think about this one. Is this a warning to actual terrorists? And if so, and if they are actually in this country reading that particular sticker, would that statement be enough to convince them NOT to be a terrorist? Or is it a message to Americans, not to turn into a terrorist? It had me completely perplexed. But I know one thing, some terrorist stuck on the idea he was going to die fighting his "jihad" would certainly not be convinced by that sticker's message. I'm pretty sure of it.

Moving on.........

What have I been up to the last two weeks?

Well, not spending alot of time on the computer. Last week we had beautiful temperatures. Digits soaring into the mid 50's early in the week, then hitting 60F, and an all time high for Colorado March on Friday.....70F. Simply gorgeous. If the weather could remain like that 365 days a year I would be happy.

We accomplished many errands needing to be done...some shopping, oh, and I had a new eye exam (new contacts...brilliant!). Just heaps of going out and getting out of the house, forgetting all about the dismal cold weather. Clare is still on her cowgirl kick so this past weekend I got her room re-decorated. I disassembled her canopy top for the bed, which left four posts to work with. I bought some black and white cow print fabric and draped it around the posts at the head and foot of the bed. If it is hard to imagine what I am attempting to describe, I will put a picture down below for a visual. Anyhow, just awaiting a few Jessie Toy Story 2 cowgirl items to arrive from the online Disney store now. That will match the Jessie bedspread she got for Christmas.

Monday things began a downward spiral back into freezing cold wintery weather. The snow has been incredible. The roads though, believe it or not, were fine. But the accumulation elsewhere (yards, rooftops, etc.) has been fairly amazing. The dogs were literally lost in the snow outside. And everything in town was closed. We found this out on a trip to Panera Tuesday for some bread. All we wanted was bread. Some lovely sourdough to accompany our dinner. But none was to be found, not Tuesday or Wednesday as they were shut down two days due to snow. And to tell you the truth, it wasn't such bad weather. Cold, yes. Snow on the ground, yes. But the roads were only wet with slush. No ice. Bizarre. We had far far worse weather for four months straight this time last year and everything remained open. (remember it was us going out for a meal where I fell on ice and broke my arm!) I suppose the media hyped up such a severe sounding storm people decided to take no chances and had things planned to close shops ahead of time. Who knows. But I still want my bread!

Saturday Colm will fly in from Ireland for a week long visit. Hooray! Finally, some company. I'm not guessing any of this war rubbish will keep any flights from coming in. Just hoping all flights are safe anyhow.

Right, so Clare is up and I'm sure I better get her breakfast in order.

Now remember, "Don't be a terrorist"!
