incidental incidents & ramblings

04 May 2005
Lots of little bits and pieces happening throughout the days, but just haven't had loads of time to think clearly and write. It's pretty clear no matter what I write about someone out there is going to disagree or try to come up with some sort of smart-alecky comment, so I have simply given up on trying to avoid topics of controversy.

We are nearly ready to begin collecting boxes for our upcoming move. Which is in about three weeks. We have chosen a quaint little 1930's farmhouse which rests on about ten acres. It won't be too much of a hike into town, the house is approximately 3.6 miles from the main route which splits off onto the interstate and into downtown about 17 miles northward. The trek won't be too bad, we have commuted far worse. Might get a bit tricky in icy, snowy conditions, but I think the Jeep can handle it. I am not looking forward to packing up the belongings. But I am looking forward to decorating the house and the copious amounts of gardening/landscaping we plan to tackle. It will be reminiscent of the Colorado days, except this time with nice green grass already in place. Best of all, no neighbours. I won't know how to react.

We are planning a shindig for the end of June, culminating mine and Clare's birthdays and a housewarming. It will be great to see everyone in one place for a change!

Things up on Jefferson's little mountain have been nice. The house and grounds are as brilliant as ever, and the gardens this time of year are just dazzling. I am happy to part of the Foundation once again.

Had another run-in of sorts with one of our annoying neighbours. Remember the cat incident from last year? Well this time it involved the Poodle Woman being on our property with her unleashed dog which then resulted in her kicking me in the ankle, her using excessive lewd language, and of course, trespassing. She has done her best to try to get me on a dangerous dog charge with Aoife (sound familiar?), but it's not flying. She also is trying to make us pay some imaginary vet bill which is either completely made up or the result in her injuring her own dog. Which would be completely psychotic. Unfortunately I have had to attain a lawyer, my choice mind you, but it needed to be done if I want to prove the innocence of my doggie. Worst case scenario I am charged with owning a dangerous Aoife and we pay an annual fee. Frankly, there isn't much of a case. No witnesses and our dog was on our property. However, our friend, Miss Poodle Woman, is not going to get off very easily on her assault, trespassing and lewd language charges.

Aside from neighbourhood excitement and the approaching date of moving, Greg is enjoying his time as a real official Police Officer and Clare had her first eye exam which resulted in glasses. She is way too cute in them. Poor thing has inherited everything from me, including poor eyesight and a crummy case of astigmatism. But the new glasses suit her and she can see much more clearly.

A big Happy Mum's Day wish goes out to all the mothers out there!
