miracles never cease

03 February 2006
Could it be...no...yes, it is. An actual entry ~of sorts~ from me. Perhaps the sky is falling today or pigs are flying or maybe I just had a second alone with the internet! Imagine that!

Life in 2005 was a literal haze. Work, work, work...sharing the use of one vehicle... maintaining perfectly timed-out schedules in order to accomplish said task in the aforementioned sentence... finishing first grade for Clare and continuing on to second... moving...changing jobs for both of us and then now embarking on yet another move in yet another chapter of our lives. Of course, now it is a new year and time has just flown by us. I never even got the internet connected at home. Why bother when I wouldn't have a chance to use it, anyhow?

At any rate, Greg changed police departments for a pleathera of reasons and the town which now employs him has been after me for a couple months to come write grants for them and eventually embark on a town museum project. Seeing how this town is 45 miles from where we have been living, and two of us cannot commute while working two different schedules, a move is in order. Again. Didn't we move around enough before? Apparently the moving Gods think not. The date is 7th of February. Clare is going to have to change schools, which isn't such a bad thing. The Catholic school on this side of the mountain goes all the way up to 12th grade. They aren't planning on upping their tuition rates for the 2006-2007 school year, and it seems they actually have religion class every day. One would think any Catholic school would hold religion class daily, but lo and behold we find this year they have not. It's a long sordid story, but it seems other subjects there take priority. Ahem...in a religious school mind you. I will not even embark on that tangent which has been hashed out daily between Greg and myself and anyone else who will occasionally listen, but enough is enough people. As Casey mentions recently on her site, when did the holy roller type folk swoop in and take over the Catholic teachings in both the schools and the churches? I think the change of school is going to be a good thing. At least Clare is excited.

We found a beautiful, new three-story townhome. Complete with attached garage and basement/washroom. We won't have to haul the Whirlpool Duet washer & dryer up any flights of stairs. Yay! The town we work for is located about 9 miles from the new place. Clare's school is about a 20 minute commute on the interstate, but that is do-able. We have the local park for walks when the weather gets nicer (hurry up, Spring!) and a town gym which we have access to. Not to mention the National Forests with accompanying hiking trails which are so close by and accessible.

All in all 2006 has shaped up to be much better than the previous year. And surviving January was an added bonus, that literally is my least favourite month. Don't ask me why, it just is. It is long and drawn out, and somewhat gloomy and depressing, despite those days of mild temperatures we experienced this time around.

With all that behind us, I am looking for good things to come!
